To our foreign friends!
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
First of all, please allow us to express our deep gratitude for your moral support of the Ukranian people during this difficult time for our country. We appreciate the political efforts your government have undertaken, and for supporting our desire to live in a free country.
Our Government has betrayed its people and refuses to fulfill its obligations. During this difficult time, our organization, The Self defense of Maydan of the City Vyshgorod and Vyshgorod Region, has emerged as a National movement of concerned, society-conscious, citizens who have taken responsibility to return Constitutional law and Order to our region.
Among us, are people of every profession, including engineers, businessmen, doctors, students, farmers and factory workers. All factions of our society have united to defend freedom and human rights and restore real democracy to Ukraine. These patriots realize that defending their motherland is their sacred duty and obligation to the people with whom they live. From day to day in difficult conditions we have fulfilled, and keep fulfilling, our duties because we can see the real results of our actions, feel their necessity and understand the responsibility they come with. Because of our efforts, it was possible to maintain peace and public order in our region. We were able to demilitarize and disband illegal police groups that had been defending the Yanukovych Regime. It was not easy. Our mere three hundred volunteers faced more than four to five thousand well-trained fighters who were prepared to open fire at any time rather than negotiate. Our patience, self-control and humanity allowed us to peacefully resolve the situation and renew peaceful life to our home.
We have been working tirelessly to restore law and order, and to reverse the consequences caused by our prior government’s illegal actions, embezzlement of municipal property and its theft of public funds. Requests from citizens seeking our help have been increasing daily and we are stepping-up efforts to help.
Additionally, Russian annexation of Crimea and its continuous obstruction have complicated the sociopolitical situation. We are only a three-hour driving distance from Russian troops, which required us to organize a territorial defense to repulse their actions.
This is our home! We were born here, raised here, and live here. We stand ready to defend our home and will defend our home against these invaders. But, we are unpaid volunteers, spending our personal finances to accomplish this and it is rapidly becoming apparent that it is simply not enough. To maintain logistics and continue our full efforts, we need equipment, medicine, auto gas and other supplies.
